Word of Life Volleyball Opens Season with 3–1 Win over Vermont State-Randolph

POTTERSVILLE, N.Y. – September 9, 2025 – The Word of Life volleyball team opened its 2025 campaign with a 3–1 victory over Vermont State University Randolph on Tuesday evening inside Huskies Health & Athletics Center. The Huskies claimed the match by set scores of 25–13, 25–23, 22–25, and 25–22.

Word of Life set the tone in the opening frame, hitting .156 while holding Randolph to a .000 percentage to secure a 25–13 win. The Huskies continued their momentum in the second set, edging out a tightly contested 25–23 decision to take a 2–0 lead. Randolph responded in the third set with a 25–22 victory, but the Huskies regrouped in the fourth, producing their best offensive performance of the night with a .308 hitting percentage to close out the match 25–22.

Samantha Hey led all players with 17 kills on .464 hitting, adding five service aces to finish with a match-high 22 points. Olivia Boyd also reached double figures with 10 kills and two aces for 12 points. Hanna Fuerst contributed five kills, nine digs, and two aces, while setter Isabella Wertz paced the offense with 22 assists and 13 digs. Defensively, Savannah Barrs anchored the back row with 17 digs as the Huskies out-dug Randolph 63–60.

As a team, Word of Life recorded 43 kills on .173 hitting while totaling 13 service aces. The Huskies held Randolph to a .091 attack percentage on 121 attempts.

With the win, Word of Life improves to 1–0 on the season and in YSCC play, while Randolph falls to 1–3 (0-1 in YSCC play). The Huskies return to action on September 20 when they play Central Maine C.C. and Southern Maine C.C., hosted by NHTI.
