YSCC Volleyball players receive All-American recognition

YSCC Volleyball players receive All-American recognition

CANTON, N.Y. - The United States Collegiate Athletic Association announced the 2015 Women's Volleyball All-American team last week, and two players from the YSCC received recognition. NHTI's Carissa Archibald and Unity's Jackie Collins each were named to the Honorable Mention All-American team. 

Collins, a 5'7 outside hitter from Rifle Colorado, is a sophomore at Unity and helped the Rams to a 10-9 season and an 8-3 record in conference play. She was named YSCC Player of the Year and led the conference in kills per set (2.80) and hitting percentage (3.79). 

Archibald, a 5'6 senior outside hitter from Sanbornton, New Hampshire, received YSCC First Team-All Conference honors, ranking in the top five in the conference in kills per set (2.13), total kills (136) and hitting percentage (.186), helping to lead NHTI to the YSCC Championship and a trip to USCAA Nationals.

Joining Collins and Archibald on the YSCC All-Conference team are Lindsey Morris, Unity, Savannah Hayden, Maine-Mathias, Katie Steeves, NHTI, Gabriella Buehler, Paul Smith's College. 

Academic All-American

The USCAA also announced the 2015 USCAA Women's Volleyball National All-Academic Team, and a pair of YSCC athletes were on that list as well. 

Mary Calabrese of Paul Smith's College and Jill Abramowitz from Unity were each recognized for their academic performances.

Student-athletes earn All-Academic honors by being an upperclassmen who has earned a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher over the course of their academic career.
