Paul Smith’s College wins cross country titles
LAKE PLACID, N.Y. - The Paul Smith's College men's and women's cross country teams battled it out with NHTI to take first place at the Yankee Small College Conference Championship held at the Olympic Biathlon range in Lake Placid on Sunday.
The Bobcats won the men's race with 27 points, followed by the Lynx with 37, and Unity College took third with 70 points. On the women's side, Paul Smith's took the title with 22 points, followed by NHTI with 49 and Unity in a close third place finish with 52 points.
On the men's side, the Bobcats were paced by Cory Roth, who won the 8k race in a time of 28:04, followed by teammate Rob Calamia in second at 28:21. Runner up NHTI was led by Cody Roberge, who finished third over all with a time of 29:19, and Branden McCoo, who finished in 29:41 and took fifth overall.
On the women's side, the Bobcats were led by conference champion Chloe Mattilio who finished the 6k course in 26:08 while Hampshire's Liz O'Brien was a close second in a time of 26:14. Paul Smith's Ashley Evans placed third (26:45).
Both Paul Smith's and NHTI, along with a number of individual runners within the conference, will next compete at the USCAA National Cross Country Championships hosted by Florida College in Lakeland, Florida.
