Jack Sullivan collects YSCC Player of the Year honors after having been an All-Conference selection last season. The junior shortstop and pitcher batted .403 with a league-leading 45 RBIs and 37 walks. Sullivan ended the regular season with a total of 50 hits, six of which went for home runs.
Brady Batson, Sullivan's teammate from York County, picks up the YSCC Pitcher of the Year award after a tremendous season on the mound. The freshman out of Massabesic High School put together a 10-1 overall record, striking out 80 batters in 83.2 innings for a miniscule 1.40 ERA and 0.85 WHIP – all top marks in the conference this season. That helped propel the Hawks to the #2 overall seed in the YSCC Tournament with a 26-10 record.
Ryan Palmer receives the YSCC Coach of the Year award for the first time in his career. The Mustangs alum, who himself was a 1st-Team All-NNESCC and NECBA All-Star as a pitcher during his time in Auburn, ME, led CMCC to a 23-8 record this season. After guiding the team to the YSCC Tournament title last year, Central Maine enters the postseason as the #1 overall seed looking to defend its conference crown.
The YSCC All-Conference and Honorable Mention list is full of the top players in the league, representing powerful home run hitters, speedy base stealers, and outstanding fielders.
The Yankee Small College Conference Tournament hits high gear on Friday, May 1st. Three games hosted at Central Maine Community College will determine the championship pairing in the double-elimination tournament, before a showdown for the trophy on Saturday, May 2nd. Fans can watch the action on both days with live-streaming coverage through the YSCC Sports Network.
