Game One: 12-2 W
The Mustangs scored seven runs in the first two innings to take a commanding lead. Babineau scored on a double steal for the game's first run, with Ty Bernier taking second base in the process. That moved worked again later in the inning with two outs. Caleb Oickle took second and Bernier trotted home. Post followed that up with an inside the park home run to make it 4-0. Center fielder Brayden Squires was unlucky not to hold on to the long fly ball as he crashed into the fence. The lead-off man was shaken up by the collision and could not make a relay through as Post rounded the bases.
NHTI pulled a run back in the top of the second, but CMCC scored three more in the bottom half of the inning. Bradley Sirois scored on Bernier RBI base hit and Kramarz drove in two runs with a triple into right field to make it 7-1.
Babineau made it 8-1 in the third, plating Brady Vincent with a hard-hit ground ball to second. After another Lynx run in the fourth, Post and Zac Gorman both recorded RBIs, driving in Oickle and Mahaney respectively.
In the bottom of the fifth, Kramarz put the game away by the ten-run rule with a two-run walk-off home run over the left field fence. Osmond got credit for the complete game, recording six strikeouts in his first official appearance of the season. The offense gave him plenty of support, picking up their 12 runs on nine hits.
Game Two: 10-1 W
Central Maine picked up right where it left off, scoring twice in the bottom of the first to start game two. Kramarz hammered a ground ball that bounced off third baseman Josh MacDonald, allowing Bernier to score. Mahaney followed that up by sending another deep fly ball to center with Squires experiencing déjà vu when he again ran into the fence and could not hold on for the catch. That scored Kramarz.
NHTI cut the lead in half with a run in the top of the third only to see Central Maine respond again with two more in the bottom of the inning. Mahaney lined one through the left side to send Kramarz and Oickle sprinting home, adding another two RBIs to his tally in the process.
The fourth saw the teams get separated for good. Camden Miller attempted to steal third, and the throw from catcher Charles Hibbert was well off the mark into left field allowing two runs to score. CMCC catcher Matthew MacLeod added two more to end the inning. His towering infield pop-up was dropped by MacDonald. MacLeod was thrown out trying to reach second, but not before Oickle and Mahaney crossed the plate.
Head coach Ryan Palmer made plenty of changes as the game went along, getting his host of first-year players some experience in a conference game. They scored two more run in the bottom of the fifth with Sirois driving in Joshua Plummer and Brayden Beaule. Aiden Wilkins came on to finish off the last two innings on the mound after Babineau threw five strong innings to earn his first career win.
