John Daileanes appointed as first Commissioner of the Yankee Small College Conference
(YSCC) – The Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) is happy to announce the membership has appointed John Daileanes as the first Commissioner of the Yankee Small College Conference.
Daileanes, a resident of Amesbury, MA, will manage the day-to-day operations of the conference while assisting the membership in recruitment/engagement efforts, promotion of the conference and its championships, and strategic league initiatives.
Daileanes is anxious to start working with the YSCC membership.
"I am incredibly excited and honored to be the first YSCC commissioner," Daileanes said. "I am truly looking forward to developing relationships within the conference and the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) to offer our student-athletes a rewarding experience they can carry with them for the rest of their lives."
YSCC President Matt Richards is excited about the opportunities ahead for the YSCC.
"John's appointment to the YSCC comes at a crucial time for the conference as we continue discussing such items as expansion, marketing, and improving the student-athlete experience. During the search process, it became evident that John's Leadership skills will serve the conference exceptionally well as we continue to work on these initiatives. I am confident in speaking for all the members of the YSCC in looking forward to working alongside John as our first conference commissioner."
Daileanes has a long history in educational athletics. He was a 1988 graduate of Lawrence (MA) Central Catholic HS, where he received the Michael Garvey Award for Athletic Excellence in basketball and baseball. He is a 1992 Colby College (Waterville, ME) graduate, where he played all four years for the Mules, where his jersey number is retired. In 1992, Daileanes was named NABC and Basketball Times All-American.
Daileanes is a 1995 Springfield College Master of Education Graduate, where he was also a Graduate Assistant Men's Basketball Coach. He has spent 27 years as a high school athletic director at Dracut and Newburyport. He currently serves as the Masconomet Regional HS Director of Athletics and Wellness.
Daileanes has been married to his wife, Jennifer, for 25 years. They have two children, Sydney, who is 21 and a senior in college at Elon University, and their son, Andrew, who is a first-year student at Davidson College.
