Machias Men Take YSCC Soccer Title

Concord, NH -  U-Maine Machias men hung on to defeat NHTI 3-2 on a blusterywindy fall day to capture the YSCC soccer championship. Will Salta(Laconia) scored both goals on assists from Austin Sartwell (Pembroke) forNHTI scoring the first goal of the game to provide a 1-0 lead early in thematch then adding a goal late in the game as NHTI pushed the tempo in an attempt to send the game into overtime. U-Maine Machias was led by goals from Wilson Juma, Jairo Castillo and Juan Solares. UMM scored two goals late in the first half to take the lead 2-1at halftime before adding a third goal at the midway point of the second half.
