Four YSCC runners named USCAA All-Americans
LAKELAND, Fla. - Paul Smith's Corey Roth and Chloe Mattilio were among four Yankee Small College Conference runners to take home All-American Honors at the 2015 Cross Country National Championship hosted by Florida College.
On the men's side, YSCC Individual Champion Corey Roth notched a top-ten finish, taking seventh place overall in a time of 27:52 to garner a spot on the All-American First Team. Teammate Rob Calamia was right behind him, finishing eighth in a time of 28:08 to be named to the Second Team, while NHTI's Brandon McCoo finished 11th overall (28:25) to also net Second Team honors.
As a team, the Paul Smith's men's squad took fourth overall with 137 points, behind Berea who won with a low score of 25 by securing the top five spots in the race. NHTI took sixth with 187 points.
On the women's side, Mattillio, who won the YSCC Individual women's championship in Lake Placid, N.Y. was the only female runner from the conference to net All-American honors, finishing 14th out of 100 runners in a time of 25:27 to earn a spot on the All-American Second Team.
Laura Matthias of Hampshire finished 22nd (26:15), Ashley Evans of Paul Smith's 38th (27:19), Rebecca Broadbent of Vermont Tech 42nd, Raquel Gelinas of NHTI 49th (28:19) and Corrie Desilets of Paul Smith's was also in the top 50 in a time of 28:19.
In team results, Paul Smith's finished highest of all YSCC teams, coming in eighth place with 210 points. Hampshire finished 11th (286) and NHTI took 13th (327).
