Plummer and LaFountain Pace UMA Moose to Opening Round Win to Start YSCC Tourney

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine (YSCC) -- In the opening game of the 2017 Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) Elite Eight Tournament, the #4 seed University of Maine-Augusta (UMA) Moose used the 1-2 bunch of Jamie Plummer and Caitlyn LaFountain to notch a 84-59 win over #5 seed Fighting Saints from College of St. Joe's.

UMA opening the game with 14-8 first quarter lead.  Dominique Lewis of UMA hit an opening 2nd period 3-pointer to kick start a 12-0 run by the Moose to extend the lead to 26-8. That lead was too much for the Fighting Saints to overcome.  College of Saint Joe's was paced by Daida Black with 17 points .  UMA was led by Plummer with a game high 27 points on 9-15 shooting from the floor.  LaFountain chipped in 16 points and 9 rebounds. 

UMA will advance to the semi-final round on Saturday and will take on the winner of the #1 seed Central Maine Community College Mustangs versus the #8 seed Hampshire College Black Sheep.
