2011-12 Players of the Week

 February 20, 2012

Ama Baker, Vermont Tech

(Sophomore, Guard- Fitchburg, MA)
In the final week of the regular season, Baker lead the the Lady Knights to a 2-1 week.  She averaged 22 points, 4.7 steals and 3 assists.  Her week was highlighted by a triple double in a win against Unity College.

Kayla Wood, UMaine Machias

(Senior, Guard- Machiasport, ME)
Wood helped lead her team to a 3-1 week against Yankee Conference opponents.  Duribg this four game strech she averaged 18 points, 4.25 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 2.5 steals per game.  Her week was highlighted by scoring her 1000th point of her college career.

Dani Ross, Eastern Maine Community College

(Sophomore, Guard- Hermon, ME)
Ross lead her team in scoring against a tough UMaine Fort Kent Team.  In that game she had 21 points and added 9 reboubounds.  She leads the team in scoring and is the emotional leader of the team.

Sara Romano, NHTI

(Freshman, Guard- Lebanon, NH)
Romano lead her team to a 3-0 week with conference wins over EMCC, Unity College and Hampshire College.  She averaged 19.3 points/game and lead the offense from the point guard position.

Katie Poirier, UMaine Augusta

(Senior, Center - Harmony, ME)
Poirier helped lead her team to a 1-1 week.  In two games she scored 41 points and pulled in 25 rebounds.  She had her best performance of the week against conference rival EMCC scoring 29 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.

Mookie Kennedy, Trumbull, CT

(Freshman, Guard- College of St. Joseph's)
Kenedy helped lead the Fighting Saints to a 3-0 week with conference wins over EMCC and UMaine Machias.  She scored 60 points over this span and added 11 rebounds, 7 assists, 2 blocks and 7 steals.

Kelley Collins, Groveton, NH

(Freshman, Forward - NHTI)
Collins scored 42 points in 2 games last week and pulled in 31 rebounds in the first games of 2012.  She was also selected for the All Tournament team for the New Year's Basketball Tournament hosted by NHTI.

Katie Poirier, Harmony, ME

(Senior, Center - UMaine Augusta)
Poirier lead her team to a 2-0 week and an overall record of 9-2.  Last week she scored 48 points and had 31 rebounds, 4 blocks, 3 assists and 2 steals.  Against USCAA rival, UMaine Presque Isle, Poirier had her best game of the season shooting 11-12 from the field and scoring 29 points.

Brittany Garrow, Rutland, VT

Garrow helped lead her team to 2 conference wins last week over Hampshire College and Unity College.  For the week she posted 40 points, 19 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 blocks and 4 steals.

Marissa Welch, Livermore, ME

(Freshman, Center - Southern Maine CC)
Welch posted a double-double in a tight YSCC match against UMaine Machias.  Her 24 points and 18 rebounds lead all players in that game.  Welch's efforts have help lead her team to a 3-0 conference record.

Poirier had a double, double (26 points, 16 reb) in a tough loss to SMCC.  She also added 3 assists, 1 block and 1 steal.

Jess Hardiman, Loudon, NH

(Senior, Guard - NHTI)
Hardiman scored 45 points, pulled in 12 rebounds, had 9 assists and 11 steals in three games this week.  Her week was highlighted by a 20 point effort against Unity College.  With those 20 points Hardiman reached the 1000 point mark in her NHTI career.
