(VERMONT TECH) --The Knights were eager to get back to work on Sunday after letting the game slip away from them on Saturday against Fisher College. It took 28 minutes into the first half before the knights anxious attitudes finally settled down and allow themselves to relax and start playing smooth soccer. Nerves and poor touches made the first half of the first half a kick and run game, but in the 28th minute the Knights finally found their style of play and started to combine passes around Paul Smith's defenders.
It took just 50 seconds for the Knights to find the back of the net twice once they started connecting passes. Freshman Connor Strom (North Attleboro, MA.) scored his 2nd of the young season when he received a ball from Phil Hepburn (Milton, VT) with 17:28 left in the first half. Fifty seconds later Phil Hepburn (Milton, VT) would add to the Knights first half lead when he collected the ball of a deflection and fired it from 20 yards out finding the back of the net. The Knights would take a 2-0 lead into the half.
Senior Houston Cote (Bristol, VT) would make his mark on the game when he struck a free kick just inside the half way line the beat Paul Smith's goal keeper to his right side giving the Knights a 3-0 lead with 20 minutes to play in the game.
The Knights continued to apply the pressure the rest of the game and had countless opportunities to put more on the scoreboard has the continued to get themselves to the end line and have dangerous opportunities. Paul Smiths keeper Ryan Gumbart would stand tall and not allow another goal. The match ended 3-0.
The Knights look to win at home on Wednesday Sept 14th, at 4pm as they play host to Southern Vermont College.
