2012-13 Players of the Week

February 11, 2013

Demetrius Rouse, NHTI

(Senior, Center- Detroit, MI)
Senior NHTI men’s basketball player Demetrius Rouse (Detroit, MI) had a strong game versus rival Southern Maine Community College this past week. Rouse added 14 points, 14 rebounds and three blocks off the bench for the Lynx. Demetrius and the Lynx are now 29-1 overall.

AC Ford, UMaine Machias

(Junior, Guard- Glendale, AZ)
In four games last week, Ford averaged 15.5 points, 8.5 assists and rebounds and 7 steals per game.  In two games he had a triple-double, one with points, rebounds and steals and the other with points rebounds and assists.

Jared Straight, Unity College

(Freshman, Guard- Palmer, AK)
Straight has been a key component in the Unity College offense throughout the season.  In a win a win against Hampshire College he posted a double-double with 35 point and 11 assists.  He is currently 6th in scoring and assists in the YSCC.

Brandon Matano, Vermont Tech

(Sophomore, Guard- Honolulu, HI)
Brandon was a crucial component in aiding Vermont Tech to a 3-0 week.  He came off the bench and averaged 18 ppg and shot 50% from the field and 40% from the 3-point line.  In addition to his scoring, Matano also contributed 2 assists per game and only 4 tournovers during this stretch.

Matt Till, Northern Maine CC

(Sophomore, Guard- Caribou, ME)
In a game against UMaine Augusta, Till scored 42 points to lead all scorers. He shot 50 percent from the floor and added 9 rebounds and 3 steals to his scoring.

Josh Lindsey, Vermont Tech

(Senior, Forward- Palm Bay, FL)
In three road games over the past week, Lindsey average a double-double with 22 points and 12 rebounds.  He was essential in securing victories over NCAA DIII opponent Johnson State, as well as YSCC rival Southern Maine CC.  For the three games, Lindsey shot 63% from the field and 72% from the free throw line.

Dre Anderson, College of St. Joseph's

(Sophomore, Forward- Fort Worth, TX)
Anderson led the Saints against NCAA DIII competition last week.  He averaged 30 points and 9 rebounds per game.  The Saints are now 3-5 on the season and will face conference rival, Hampshire College in their next game.

Andrew Pullen, UMaine Augusta

(Sophomore, Forward- Augusta, ME)
Pullen was named to the Bates College Tip-Off All Tournament team and averaged 18.8 points during a grueling week that had the Moose playing five games in five days.  Pullen also led the Moose to their first win of the season with a 27 point, 11 rebound game against Paul Smith's College.

Christopher Lewis Jr., Eastern Maine CC

(Senior, Guard- Ft. Lauderdale, FL)
Lewis helped lead the Golden Eagles to a 3-1 week against conference opponents.  Over these 4 games he averaged 15.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 6.25 assists and 5.25 steals per game.  Eastern Maine CC is now 4-1 on the season.

Jose Nouchanthavong, Southern Maine CC

(Sophomore, Guard- Westbrook, ME)
Nouchanthavong led the Seawolves to a 2-1 week including a conference win over Unity College and an upset win over Naval Academy Prep.  In those three games, Jose shot 50% from the floor and recorded 17 rebounds.  He also dished out 20 assists including 9 against Navy Prep with oly 1 tournover.
