Week 4 Player of the Week Winners

 

Women’s Cross Country

Paige Wiechman – UMM

 

Paige took 1st place at a conference meet held at Unity college with collegiate career best of 20:32 in the women’s 5 K. This time was 33 seconds better than the 2nd place female runner from Colby College. She dominated the race from start to finish and with first place helped the women place 2nd in the meet as a team. 

 

Men’s Cross Country

Kyle Dash – PSC

 

Kyle Dash – (JR:  Java Village/Pioneer HS) placed second in the Mountaineer Invitational held at the Southern Vermont College course on Saturday, September 24th.   This extremely hilly course doesn’t lend itself to PRs, but annually challenges the runners from small colleges in the northeast as they prepare for upcoming conference championships and other major meets.

 

Golf

Zach Gerding – NHTI

 

Zach Gerding (Concord, NH) is a freshman golfer from NHTI. In two meets this past weekend Zach had scores of 75 and 76. His score of 75 was good to be the overall winner of the meet and his score of 76 placed second for the Lynx. With his efforts the Lynx won two more meets this weekend and are now preparing to compete in the YSCC Championship Tournament next weekend.

 

 

Women’s Soccer

Samantha Provencher – NHTI

 

NHTI senior women’s soccer player Samantha Provencher (Merrimack, NH) had a very strong week. In games versus UMA and Dean College Samantha scored the game winning goals. She totaled four goals and one assist on the week leading NHTI to two more wins.

 

 

 

Men’s Soccer

Erik Peterson – EMCC

 

Against UMM on 9/24/11, Erik had 11 saves on 15 shots in a 0-4 loss.  On 9/25/11, Erik had 18 saves on 20 shots in a   2-1 win against Northern Maine Community College. Erik was outstanding all weekend, making it very difficult for opponents to get an easy shot on goal.

 

 

Baseball

Softball

Micaela Bill – NHTI

 

Freshman NHTI softball player Micaela Bill (Concord, NH) had a stellar week for the Lynx. In a game versus rival SMCC Bill pitched seven innings while striking out six and walking only two. Also, offensively she went 2-4 with a double, a steal, and an RBI. Bill has emerged as a leader of the Lynx.

 

Volleyball

Kyrstyn Ransom – UMM

 

Kyrstyn had 2 kills in 9 attempts in a match against a much taller Maine Maritime Academy.  Although UMM lost the match to MMA, Kyrstyn played hard and never gave up on the game.  Kyrstyn also had 12 digs and 3 assists in that match.
