Week 2 Players of the Week Winners

 

Women’s Cross Country

Alexa Cosgro – Paul Smith

 

This past Wednesday, she competed with the cross country team at the North Country Invitational in SUNY – Canton, and was the top finisher from Paul Smith’s. 

 

Twelve of the athletes who finished ahead of Alexa are student athletes from St. Lawrence University, an NCAA Division III national power.

 

Men’s Cross Country

Ben Palladino – Paul Smith

 

Ben Palladino (SO:  Tully, NY/Tully HS) placed sixth in the North Country Invitational held at SUNY – Canton’s 5K course on Wednesday, September 7th.  Four of the runners ahead of Ben were from the nationally ranked NCAA Division III power, St. Lawrence University.  Ben placed well ahead of USCAA fellow competitor, Justin Richardson of SUNY – Canton, who finished in 18:02.3; in 15th place.

 

 

Golf

Tommy Stirling – SMCC

 

Tommy Stirling (Gorham, ME) shot a 1-under 68 to win medalist honors at the YSCC match at The Meadows Golf Course in Litchfield, ME on Saturday, September 10.  Tommy’s score also led SMCC to a first place finish.

 

 

Women’s Soccer

Holly Bourassa – NHTI

 

NHTI freshman goalkeeper Holly Bourassa (Amherst, NH) played outstanding for the Lynx this week. She made 43 saves on 46 shots in three games. The highlight of her week was a 24 save effort versus The College of St. Joe’s.

 

Men’s Soccer

Blais Whitney – SMCC

 

This past weekend, junior Blais Whitney (Cornish, ME) scored 5 goals and 1 assist to lead the SMCC Seawolves to YSCC wins over University of Maine-Augusta and Northern Maine CC.  Whitney proved to be an offensive threat from both the striker and center midfielder positions.  The wins put SMCC at 2-0 in conference play and 2-2 overall.

 

Saturday, September 10: SMCC 12, UMA 0 – B. Whitney 2 goals, 1 assist

Sunday, September 11: SMCC 7, NMCC 1 – B. Whitney 3 goals

 

Baseball

Brian Morrill – NHTI

 

Brian Morrill (Franklin, NH) is a freshman outfielder from NHTI. In a game versus Central Maine Community College he had two homeruns including a grand slam. In total, Morrill knocked in five runs in the effort versus CMCC.

 

Softball

Nicole LeMauk – NHTI

 

Senior catcher Nicole LeMauk (Deerfield, NH) from NHTI had a double, triple, and an RBI in a game this past weekend. No only is Nicole a leader in the batters box, but she is also the anchor on the field from the catcher’s position. LeMauk’s experience and leadership is crucial for the Lynx pitching staff going forward.

 

Volleyball

Lisa Doyle – NCC

 

In NCC’s first tournament of the season at NHTI Lisa had 28 digs, 8 kills, 10 assists and 11 service aces in the 4 matches they played over the weekend.
