10.24.08 | YSCC Expands Conference Season
The Yankee Small College Conference Athletic Directors voted to expand the baseball and softball seasons to cover both the fall and the spring semester. With this format, the YSCC Championship weekend will be held at the end of the spring regular season.
9.30.08| SMCC Baseball Coach Reaches Milestone
SMCC's baseball coach Phil Desjardins reached a milestone in his coaching career this past Tuesday, September 23rd after his team swept Central Maine CC 6-0 and 4-3. Desjardins is the first head baseball coach at SMCC to reach a combined 200 career wins.
Desjardins has been at the helm of the Seawolves for the past 13 season and has qualified for post season play 10 of those 13 years including one trip to the United States Collegiate Athletic Association National Championship and back-to-back Yankee Small College Conference Championships in 2006 and 2007. His team is the number one seed heading into this weekend's YSCC Fall Championships and look to capture their 3rd onsecutive YSCC Championship. "This milestone is one of the most deserving for someone, stated SMCC's Director of Athletics Matt Richards. Coach Desjardins is an outstanding individual who holds the balance of creating a competitive baseball environment with teaching the right life lessons for our student-athletes. SMCC has been blessed to have Coach Desjardins at the helm of our baseball program."

P/OFIn the YSCC Championship game this past weekend Lee threw a complete game five hitter, striking out seven in a 8-3 win over SMCC. This is the Lynx first YSCC title since 2005. Lee also picked up several hits in the tournament.
