BYLAW I: MEMBERSHIP

BYLAW II: DUES

  • The conference dues for all full and affiliate member institutions in the Conference will be decided at the spring meeting for the following academic year.
  • Annual dues shall be paid by September 1st of the academic year in which a Conference member expects to have membership privileges.  Failure to pay dues by September 1st will result in a $100.00 late fee.
  • Additional fees (standard for all Final Four and Invitational tournaments as necessary) shall be decided at the spring meeting for the following academic year.

BYLAW III: DUTIES OF THE OFFICERS

A. President

  • Shall preside over all Conference meetings and be responsible for the general supervision of all Conference operations.
  • Shall appoint special committees and such support personnel as may be necessary.  Shall appoint standing committee members.
  • Shall prepare and distribute agendas for Conference meetings
  • Shall appoint the SID with the approval of the Conference membership. 
  • The President shall be paid $250.00 per year on December 1st for the year.

B. Vice President

  • Shall act as the presiding officer in the absence of the President.
  • Shall coordinate the preparation of the YSCC Standard Operating Procedures Manual. 
  • Shall provide members with copies of the Constitution and Bylaws, as needed.
  • Shall collect proposed changes in the Constitution and Bylaws and present them for action at the Scheduling meeting of the conference.
  • The Vice President shall be paid $250.00 per year on December 1st for the year.
  • Secretary
  • Shall keep a permanent record of the minutes of all Conference meetings.
  • Shall provide members with copies of the minutes, and other reports as needed.
  • The Secretary shall be paid $250.00 per year on December 1st for the year.

D. Treasurer

  • Shall receive and care for the monies of the Conference, expending it in accordance with the will of the Conference members.
  • Shall prepare an annual budget for conference approval.
  • Shall coordinate the purchasing and dispensing.
  • The Treasurer shall be paid $250.00 per year on December 1st for the year.

 


BYLAW IV: OTHER CONFERENCE POSITIONS

  • Sports Information Director
  • Responsible for complete web site construction and management.
  • Coordinates all input of information to the web site.
  • Posts all weekly reports, tournament results and other necessary information.
  • Keeps web site up to date with conference information.
  • Shall coordinate the gathering of all statistics to promote league standings and championship play.
  • Shall perform other publicity tasks as determined by the Conference membership such as press releases, end of season publicity, post season awards and working with the USCAA 
  • Works directly with the Executive board on league matters and issues.
  • Attends the 4 league meetings per year to be held each year.
  • The Sports Information Director shall be paid $1000.00 per year.  $500 will be paid on December 31st and $500 will be paid on June 1st

 

BYLAW V: HOSTING CONTESTS 

  • Host Institution
    • The Director of Athletics or designee at the host institution will serve as the Site Director.  Specific responsibilities will include: 
  • Host site will ensure that facilities are appropriate and administrative game personal are present for all games.  Additionally host site will coordinate all necessary site arrangements to conduct contests.
  • Ensure that all facilities and appropriate game personnel are prepared.
  • Coordinate sports information duties with SID.  
  • Ensure that athletic training services and a certified athletic trainer is present for events (if required by YSCC Standard Operating Procedures)
  • Provide adequate locker room and game facilities for teams and officials during the event.
  • On Site game personal will handle any on site problems/concerns during the event.
  • Provide access to fax and telephone to conference members during and following the event.
  • Make sure all USCAA protocol is followed. 

BYLAW VII: APPEALS

  • Any action relative to any regulation of the Conference or subdivision thereof may be appealed to the Conference President verbally and then followed-up in writing for a decision.
  • The Conference President may present the appeal to the Conference members for a ruling.

BYLAW VIII: AMMENDMENTS TO THE BYLAWS

  • Proposed amendments to the Bylaws must be submitted to the President for inclusion on the agenda of the next meeting. A copy of the suggested change must accompany the agenda.
  • The Amendment must be voted at the same meeting at which it is presented. A two   thirds vote of the members present and voting is required for the amendment to pass.

 

BYLAW IX: PARLIAMENTARY PROCEDURES

The rules contained in the current edition of the Robert's Rules of Order Newly revised shall govern the Conference in all cases to which they are not inconsistent with these bylaws and any special rules of order which the Conference may adopt.

 

BYLAW X: Membership Categories

  • Full / USCAA
  • All members must be members of the USCAA and must follow and meet USCAA Eligibility.  
  • All member teams must follow each sport specific guidelines set forth by the conference in the Standard Operating Procedures Manual.
  • Each team will have had to field a varsity team for two consecutive regular seasons to be eligible for YSCC tournament unless prior approval by YSCC members by a 2/3 majority vote.  
  • All full members are eligible to participate in NECA Tournaments (teams cannot participate in a NECA and YSCC Tournament at the same time).
  • Affiliate / New England Collegiate Association (NECA)
  • Members do not need to belong to any national association.
  • All student athletes must adhere to your institutional policies to be eligible.
  • Affiliate members are not eligible for any YSCC Championship event but they are eligible to participate in YSCC Invitational’s.
